the "Almost" Photoshoot (Winter Lookbook)

Last weekend, my friend Sena and I set out to do another photoshoot. We planned on doing a second lookbook for the winter, but we kind of just did things on our own taking photos here and there. This is the "almost winter photoshoot" because the main goal was to take a break from school and enjoy life, hope you guys enjoy!
I'm a gangster... that volunteers and gets straight A's and does debate...HARDCORE!
Also, for obvious reasons, I made the pics where I looked worse smaller than pics I though I actually looked pretty decent in (:

"HELP US UP!" is what we said because we said because we forgot how to sit down...
I look so bored with life in the last two pictures, I swear I must look like this everyday in school too.

this is my friend "radfoxes" as you can see, she has an amazing sense of style

Photo credits to Sena and her camera timer
you can follow her instagram @radfoxes or check out her blog filled with music playlists

Also make sure to follow me on the only main social media platform I use, instagram!

Fall Pieces

In today’s post, I just wanted to show off some great deals I scored recentlyOriginally I was going to title this post fall essentials, but in retrospect there are far more things required to make that happen and it wouldn't make sense to only talk about two things, but the two accessories I am about to (shamelessly) brag about are some examples of go to fall items.

The pictures are over a week old, (as you can tell with the familiar icons in the background) but my love for these items is still going on strong.

I got the classic looking plaid backpack from Pacsun during their fall sale for only 10 bucks! Originally it would have been about 35bucks. Score for savings!

The boots are from target. I din’t even plan on going shopping that day*  ButI found these boots in the sale section for shoes for only 10 bucks as well. They were the last ones, and they were in my size! It's moments like these that make you want to shout Hallelujah!

*It was raining and I ran for the mall to take cover. As always, it was a bad idea to go into Target, because I lost a bunch of money that day to random things that I liked and did not  even need. For example, I spent over twenty dollars on a bag of plastic dinosaurs, twine, milk bottles, and an overpriced notebook. But the shoes made up for my money loss so...yay?

Sorry for the short post, (I've been in Hiatus) but you look forward to higher quality stuff cause I actually have time in my life this weekend to get my life together
(hopefully..of course I procrastinate a lot so...) and put more work into my blog. I just finished taking some big tests, only to fall into another sea of big tests, so be sure to look out for some study tips coming your way.

Enjoy your weekend!

Fall Lookbook 2014 // RadFoxes X The Crafteen Mastermind (Part 2)

It's that time of year again; when summer and autumn clash and outfits must merge to create the perfect transitional look.

Hello dear friends of the internet,
This will be my first fashion lookbook post which is super exciting because I love wearing clothes (who doesn't) and will be able to share some of my style. This would not have been possible without the collaboration of Sena, a long time friend who is also a blogger and founder of Rad Foxes. She writes about her passions and enjoys sharing her great music tastes to anyone who is willing to lend an ear, or eyes (to read her blog). You should definitely check out her blog for more on music and her creative volcano of thoughts.
We went out to shoot for these pictures on a sizzling hot September evening, and shot 6 summer to fall transitional outfits. I was the "model" and all the photo credits goes to Radfoxes who also edited and helped style the looks. It was really fun shooting, but kind of awkward beacause...well I'll spare you the details but I was kind of changing in public. Some of the looks that seem more suitable for summer can easily be changed into the perfect fall outfit by adding some layers of cardigans and cute jackets, as well as a pair of tights.
This is part 2 of the look book so if you want to see part 1, go to Radfox's blog to find it. We have 3 looks on each blog so be sure to see all 6!
Anyways enough with the chit chat, lets get to the fashion!

Crafternoon#4: D.I.Y Crochet Top

This crochet top the perfect item to add into your summer closet. Recently I have seen this crochet top all over tumblr and Pinterest.
Crochet
WARNING! This picture may contain very high expectations of what your DIY crochet top might look like.
I thought to myself: "Hey I can crochet, I could totally make this!"So I found this video on YouTube which I found to be pretty helpful.

Here is the crocheted top I made after following the gist of the video tutorial. As you can see the "top" isn't as detailed as the somewhat (extremely) misleading photo at the beginning. However, the end result is still really cute and is perfect for wearing over swimsuit or bikini at the beach. I wouldn't recommend not wearing anything under because..well...kind of awkward. But if you're okay with that sort of thing, by all means do whatever your heart desires.

Hope you guys were inspired in someway. Stay Crafteenly smart!

Crafternoon #3: D.I.Y Printed Eye Shirt

Lately print clothing has become very trendy, but the prices for shirts like these can come in prices way above an average person's budget. I guess you could say I was inspired by the eye print shirt here on the right. (kinda..not really)

I'm going to show you guys how I made this printed eye shirt which cost close to  nothing if you have these supplies already lying in your house.

Here are the Materials you will be using:

  1. Plastic fruit container, or any plastic packaging
  2.  Xacto knife, or scissors( but using scissors will be a lot more difficult)
  3. Clear tape
  4. Acrylic paint
  5. Sponge
  6. Plain t-shirt
  7. T-shirt or extra cloth you will probably ever use again
  8. An Iron
  9. A Sharpie
  10. Ruler

STEP 1 : Use your Xacto/crafting knife to cut out a square from the bottom of your disposable plastic container.
The container I used belonged to a bunch of blueberries. Now that I think about it, this project is great for reusing plastic.
STEP 2 : Use a sharpie to draw a simple eye. Then use an Xacto knife to carefully cut out the shape of the eye. ***Be sure to leave some space on a part of the eye so that you don't end up cutting out a plain oval.

STEP 3 : Make sure you test your stencil with a sharpie or marker before using it on your cloth with paint. As you can see, I just filled in the stencil with a sharpie on notebook paper.
I made two eye stencils, one with negative space(right) and the other with positive space(left). The Positive space is better for adding dark paint onto a light color t-shirt while the negative space works best with light paint on a dark colored t-shirt. I might make a black t-shirt with white eyes, so look out in the future.
STEP 4 : Use a ruler and sharpie to measure the spacing you want between each eye print. Make a small dot for where each eye will be placed.
STEP 5 : Place the stencil so that the center of the eye is on the dot you marked with your sharpie. Then tape down the edges using clear tape, this will minimize moving while you apply the paint.
STEP 6 : Use a small painting sponge, or a small cut up piece of clean sponge to dab the paint on the stencil.
You can be very generous, or sparing, it's all up to you.
STEP 7 : Continue to add onto your shirt by placing the stencil onto the next dot repeating step 6. Keep painting on more and more eyes until all your dots have grown into cute pupils.

This looks like a mascara nightmare, but don't worry, in the end it will all pay off.

STEP 8 : This step is optional. If you made any noticeable paint marks that have smudged in random places, try using white paint to cover it up. WARNING, it will not look that great, but I was desperate since my blotches were very obvious, so be careful when you are painting your stencils in that you don't have any stray paint marks.

FINALLY! At last your painting job is complete. BUT, don’t think you’re done. Keep scrolling for the last few steps. Don't worry it's not as bad as you think.
STEP 9 : Iron the shirt so that the paint can “fuse” with the fabric, use that
old t-shirt you never liked to act as a protective barrier.
STEP 10 : AT LAST THE FINAL STEP!!!
Try on your new custom designed shirt and style whichever way you want. If you want to be adventurous, you can cut off the sleeves and make a tank or muscle tee.

I paired mine with some high waist shorts and just tucked the shirt in. Also I wore this out in public on Tuesday and did not get any questionable stares so....success!

Hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial.
Stay happy and crafty!
